As of the 2017 vintage, Fonterutoli produces three distinct Gran Selezione representing the different communes in which they have estate vineyards. All are made from 100% Sangiovese. Badiola hails from the area of Radda-in-Chianti with altitudes reaching 570 metres above sea level. Harvested on October 3rd, it initially presents a glossy vanilla sheen atop macerated cherry. Oak notes are more discreet on the palate and underneath super concentrated fruit there is surprisingly fresh acidity.
