“Classic” Riesling 2013 89 VIN Apr15

Lime and orange oil on the perfumed, deep nose. Bright and clean on the palate, with zippy acidity providing lift and definition to the chamomile and licorice flavors. Finishes crisp, dry and long. Made from grapes grown mainly around Ribeauvillé, the rest from St. Hippolyte and Thann–and a tiny bit from the Bas-Rhin. At 300,000 bottles, this is the most important wine for Trimbach in terms of volume. For an entry-level Riesling, this is carrying a rather amazing 26 grams per liter of dry extract.  – I.D.
