Clos Ste Hune Riesling 2009 93 W&S Dec15

The Trimbachs have owned this 4.12-acre parcel in the Rosacker vineyard for more than two centuries. The vines, facing south and southeast, average 50 years of age, their roots exploring the limestone soils, their fruit producing one of the most distinctive and long-lived rieslings in the world. In 2009, the dry conditions that began in July and followed into the heat of August produced a warm vintage of Clos Ste-Hune, showing some fusel scents and cider apple flavors. The texture is broad, the wine completely savory, with a gamey note that hints at the flavor complexities to come. Built for the cellar, this needs charcuterie if you decant the bottle now.
