This pretty sparkler opens to frothy beading, thick foam and a light pink color with hints of copper and gold. The Fontanafredda 2014 Alta Langa Metodo Classico Contessa Rosa Rosé Brut gains its pretty color thanks to the addition of a few drops of Barolo from the 1967 vintage. However, the base of this wine is Pinot Noir. This is a lovely sparkling wine with tangy or spicy notes of wild berry, cassis and baked bread. -M.L.
