If you’ve never experienced an Aglianico Rosato, then pull up a chair. The 2019 Lacrimarosa from Mastroberardino displays both sweet and savory tones on the bouquet, as ripe strawberry and roses give way to savory herbs, Indian spice, and white smoke. Soft textures envelope the palate in ripe fruits, showing more melon now than red fruit, but with a penetrating zing of vibrant acids which motivate the experience and expose the senses to salty minerals. On the finish, we return to the strawberry spectrum, along with alluring inner florals that seem to go on and on and on. – E.G.
