Mastroberardino’s 2014 Taurasi Naturalis Historia lifts from the glass with an understated yet truly enjoyable display of citrus-tinged blackberries and wild herbs, with just a hint of coffee grinds. On the palate, soft textures give way to zesty black fruits, complemented by brisk acidity and citrus-tinged minerals. The finish is medium in length and buzzing with energy, showing a hint of subtle tannins, which add a balanced grip. This is a transparent communication of terroir, showing the results of the cool and wet 2014 vintage… the Naturalis Historia is sure to make a lot of collectors happy over the next five to ten years. – E.G.
