Very pure aromas of rose water and grapefruit on the enticing nose. Bright, dense and rather rich for this wine, but racy acidity gives the fresh citrus and spice flavors remarkable clarity and cut. Strikes me as an airy yet tactile Muscat boasting truly terrific verve and class, not to mention a long finish. This is really lovely …As is often the case in hot, dry years such as 2015, the Muscat Ottonel had coulure (berry shatter) problems and didn’t flower well, so there is a little more Muscat d’Alsace than usual in this wine. – I.D.
