The estate’s 2013 Rosso di Montalcino is succulent and expressive, both of which make it an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, cedar and licorice add nuance on the soft, open-knit finish. This is the first vintage in which the Rosso is made from biologically cultivated fruit from Brunello-designated vineyards. Like virtually all of the estate’s top wines, the Rosso is aged in cask. – A.G.
