A jewel in the Mediterranean, Sardinia is a rustic and enchantingly beautiful island with extreme geography and vinous diversity to tempt travelers and wine enthusiasts alike. Mr. Sella and Mr. Mosca fell in love with this land over a century ago and established Sella & Mosca, one of Italy’s most renowned wine estates. As Sardinia’s foremost wine producer, Sella & Mosca’s premium wines are made exclusively from estate-grown grapes. In addition to native varieties such as Vermentino, Torbato and Cannonau, the winery has successfully pioneered the introduction of international grape varieties, notably Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.
In the Leveche quadrant of Sella & Mosca’s estate vineyards, the warm soils formed by the erosion of ancient layers of sandstone (in Italian “arenaria”) are home to this Sauvignon Blanc. This is the origin of Le Arenarie, where vines with an average age of eight years produce fruit that expresses the area’s unique terroirs Grapes undergo soft pressing and cold settling followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature of 64°F in stainless steel. The wine is then aged for three to four months in stainless steel.
Generous and well-sustained, recalling the exceptional personality of the vine and its unique aromatics. A compact and varied bouquet where red pepper and wild fennel are blended with sweeter notes. With backbone, it stands out for its tanginess and for its long and persistent reminiscence of sweet pepper, obtained by the island’s particular climate.
