LINDAFLOR LA VIOLETA 2010 94 WA Dec16

Monteviejo’s 2010 La Violeta is inspired by their Pomerol property La Violette. It’s a micro-vinification in barrique of their best Malbec grapes from Vista Flores in Tunuyán grown at 1,100 meters altitude. It’s still a heady and dense effort hitting the scales at 15.5% alcohol, partially compensated by good acidity and plenty of fruit. It matured in brand new French oak barrels for two years. The objective is to keep the wine in bottle for up to ten years before it’s released. This is a classical red, with very good balance, ripeness and power, generously oaked but with the depth of fruit to come into balance with some more time in bottle. This is a Malbec designed for the long haul. Decadent and hedonistic, with lots of everything. – L.G.
